Naming “Happy”

Roxy was the name her original family gave her. But I wanted to have a fresh start together, so the first order of business was to give her a new name.

Her coat was tan or blonde, and I actually started calling her “Peanut” the first night she joined my family.

I guess “peanut” was fine, but it hit me that I got this dog to bring JOY into our lives.

HAPPY!

That’s it. 2 weeks in, she got a new name. Nothing more to consider.

It also occurred to me that I will be saying this word a lot, and that’s a good thing right? She will remind me to be happy and appreciate each other and the things we have.

The thing is, it actually fits her temperament. Her tail wagged ferociously when she sees my mom and grandma.

At this point, I was feeling blessed – that my vision and “goal” of getting a dog has materialized, at least for now…

I believe the bond between a human and dog is a precious thing. We are blessed to be able to communicate and share our lives together with other creatures on this planet. One of my missions in life is to explore and strengthen the relationship between me and my dog, and hope to bring you dog lovers along with me on this journey.
